Key technology ofCO2 laser cutting machine is a comprehensive technology of optical, mechanical and electronic integration.

 For CO2 laser cutting machine, the parameter of laser beam, the property and precision of machine and CNC system will directly affect the efficiency and quality of laser cutting. For cutting high precision or thick components, the following key technologies must be well mastered:
 
Control technology of focus technology: one advantage of laser cutting is high density energy of laser beam, usually can reach 10W/cm2. Its energy density is directly proportional to 4/πd2, therefore, the diameter of focus spot should be as small as possible, to ensure narrow cutting; at the same time, the diameter of focus spot is also directly proportional to focus depth of the lens. The smaller is the focus depth of lens, the smaller is the diameter of the focus spot.
 
But sparks may be produced during the laser cutting process, if the lens is too close to work-piece, it is very easy to damage the lens, that’s why we use 5〃~7.5〃〞(127~190mm) focal distance for high power CO2 laser cutting machine. The actual diameter of focus spot is about 0.1~0.4mm, for high quality cutting, effective focus depth is relevant to lens diameter and the materials.
 
There are three methods to determine focus positions:
 
  1. Printing method: cutting head should move from the top to bottom, and laser beam printing should be conducted on the plastic plate, and smallest printing spot is the focus.
  1. Sloping plate method: use a plastic plate, make it at an angle with the vertical axis, and then let this sloping plate move in the horizontal direction. The smallest spot is the focus.
  1. Blue sparking method: take off the spray nozzle, blow the air, and mark pulse laser on the stainless steel, the laser head should move from the top to the bottom, the biggest part of blue sparkle is the focus.
